Landscape Structures is proud to sponsor 10 schools with scholarships for Wise Kids or Wise Kids Outdoors program kits. Selected schools can choose a program to serve up to 100 children. Desired program implementation window is fall of 2011.
The Wise Kids programs (Wise Kids and Wise Kids Outdoors) help children ages 6 to 11 learn how to make smart nutrition and activity choices and to learn and become excited about the natural world around them. Wise Kids is a 9-session evaluated wellness program. Wise Kids Outdoors is a 20-mission evaluated program that gets children back outdoors, learning about environmental stewardship and nature with an underlying wellness theme. Both programs are designed to ensure children learn key wellness and environmental education skills without a significant amount of staff investment in program development or training.
Each program is offered as a turnkey resource that provides children’s workbooks and materials, marketing tools, staff training resources, and parent information.
Scholarship Requirements for Selected Agencies are:
• Implement the awarded Wise Kids or Wise Kids Outdoors program kit with youth ages 6 to 11 during 2011. The curriculum must be delivered to the SAME group of children during your program implementation timeframe. That is, each child that starts the program must also complete the program. • Organizations will provide requested registration information and scholarship agreement to the Sajai Foundation within 2 weeks of award notification. • Organizations must have participating children complete the pre-program surveys prior to program implementation and post-program surveys within 1 week of program conclusion. For data integrity purposes, if surveys cannot be completed by the participants online, paper copies should be distributed to participants and results should then be entered online by your organization. Other methods of getting the data, such as asking the kids to raise their hands, are not acceptable. Data must be entered by within 2 weeks of program survey completion. • Organizations will provide signed media release forms for participants. • Organizations will provide pictures and or a video of the program in action. • Organizations will receive a program impact report from the Säjai Foundation following receipt of all survey data. Organizations will participate in a conference call to provide program feedback and review report results. • Organizations will provide any other required information for program delivery in a timely manner. • If requested, organization will work with the Säjai Foundation to enable on-site program visits by the Säjai Foundation. 1. Shipping costs will be the responsibility of your organization and may vary from $25-80 per kit, depending on size of kit and destination.
